Redbud tree is a Springtime favorite in my household. With tiny, pink blossoms that are oh-so-fragrant, it’s about to be a favorite of yours, as well!
Grow Zone: Does best in zones 5-9.
Water and Sun Needs: Partial sun to areas of full sun. It likes moist soil, but never over saturate or water too deeply.
Average Size: Can reach 20 feet tall, and 25 feet wide.
Plant Type: Deciduous tree.
Special Features: Birds love this beauty!
How to Get Started: When picking a spot to plant your redbud, make sure it’s in an area of well-draining soil. Depending on the variety of redbud, some trees do better in partial shade (don’t expect many blossoms from trees planted in partial shade) and some do better in areas of full sun. The trees planted in full sun will give landscapers the best display of flowers.
When to Harvest: This isn’t a tree that gives you anything TO harvest, but you can expect blossoms to begin appearing around March depending on the temperature in your area. After the plant is done blooming, expect the foliage to turn orange or a dark burgundy color.
What to Plant It With: The different shades of foliage make this plant a perfect feature in gardens of any color.

I have a farm I have just started, so I need a lot of trees. We have animals, and I’m worried about the possibility of them eating off the trees. We have everything from dogs to horses.
