Some people may find that a lot of weird flowers look incredibly beautiful. Now, while this may seem odd at first, there is no denying that we are drawn to things that look strange.

Weird Flowers

1. Bee Orchid

Ophrys Apifera is the first in our list of weird flowers available on earth. When you look closely, it resembles a bumblebee that is smiling.

This is a special kind of flower. Despite being found at various places of the world, it belongs to the category of endangered species. This is because it is not easy to grow. You can find this flower in parts of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.

2. Angel Orchid

Botanists believe these flowers look like an angel wearing a gown. This is where the name Angel Orchid stems from. Zygopetalum Rhein is the official name of this flower.

In 1932, this flower was discovered in India. It belongs to a tiny flower family as it is no longer than 5 inches. Angel Orchid is a gorgeous-looking flower that is widely used for decoration purposes.

3. Bat Plant

Tacca Integrifolia, also known as a bat plant, is a member of the yam family. The name originated from the appearance of black flowers and how they resemble bats.

It is a very different-looking plant that attracts the eye instantly. You can grow this plant anywhere around the world.

4. Beehive Ginger

Belonging to a family of tall plants, Zingiber spectabile is capable of growing up to 6 feet! The flowers of this plant resemble honeybees.

This is a popular plant among those who like to use plants as indoor decor. Just as people grow ginger indoors, the Beehive Ginger Plant can also be grown indoors. However, you need a much larger planter to grow this in.

5. Birds of Paradise 

One cannot talk about weird flowers without mentioning Strelitzia. You can plant this flower indoors and outdoors. Although, if you are planning to grow it outdoors, you must be alerted that as being a tropical flower. It needs heat and warmth.

A plus point of this plant is that it does not need a lot of care; hence, it is a low-maintenance plant.

6. Chamber Maids

Calceolaria Uniflora is known by many different names, including Chamber maids, Happy Alien, and Darwin’s Slipper. It is called Darwin’s slipper because Charles Darwin explored this mountain flower.

Chamber Maids also belongs to a tiny-flower family as they grow no more than 4 inches tall. Only places with a cooler climate can grow these flowers as they cannot tolerate the heat.

7. Corpse Flower

Rafflesia Keithii is one of the weird flowers that can only be found in the rainforest of Indonesia. The Corpse Flower is a strange flower because it does not have any leaves, roots, or stems on it.

The Corpse flower gets its horrid name due to its smell. However, the appearance of the flower has nothing to do with the name.

8. Corpse Lily

Amorphophallus Titanium is one of the rare flowers in the world. The Corpse Lily originated from Indonesia.

The Corpse Lily is not known to bloom. This flower is a huge flower that can grow up to 12 feet tall, weighing about 100 pounds. That is insane!

9. Dancing Girls

Impatiens Bequaertii is a flower that is white and pink and grows in East Africa. They look like adorable dancing girls, but sadly, you can only see them in pictures now.

This flower has become so rare that it is nearly impossible to find one. These would also be an amazing indoor house decor with planters and small pots.

10. Desert Pea 

Swainsona Formosa is a creepy-looking flower. These are known as Wildflowers and are Australian natives.

These flowers are under the strict surveillance of the Australian government, and one cannot pick them up without seeking permission from the authorities.

11. Devils Hand 

The Devil’s hand, Monkey’s hand, and Monkey Paw are common names for the Chiranthodendron Pntadactylon. It is a very creepy flower but is an effective healer of various heart diseases.

This grows in Mexico and has a religious sentiment attached to it. This flower appears to be very different than others. It is a tropical plant that requires temperate weather to grow in.

12. Dove Orchid

 The Dove Orchid and a Holy Ghost Orchid are other names given to the Peristeria Elata. This is an adorable flower that originated from Panama.

Panama’s national flower is the Dave Orshid. However, it rarely exists now because nobody is protecting them. This flower has become one of the endangered species as it is on the verge of extinction.

13. Brazilian Dutchman’s Pipe 

Aristolochia Gigantea, also known as the Brazilian Dutchman’s Pipe, is a weird flower. Aristolochia Gigantea, also known as the Brazilian Dutchman’s Pipe, is a weird flower.

This plant has an awful smell which is why people want to stay away from it.

14. Flame Lily

Gloriosa Superba is a beautiful flower that grows all over the world. As per its beauty, it is a popular decoration accessory worldwide.

However, it is a poisonous plant, so you would want to keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

15. Flying Duck Orchid 

Exclusively available in Australia, Caleana Major is an Australian native. A very exquisite environment is needed to grow this flower.

This grows widely on Australian bushes.

16. Fly Orchid

Ophrys Insectifera is another unusual plant in the orchid family. Europe has lots of fly orchid flowers.

This plant belongs to a tall-plant category as it grows between 11 to 15 inches tall.

17. Hammer Orchid

Yet another Australian plant, Drakaea Glyptodon, is exclusively found in Western Australia. This makes our collection of strange looking flowers as it goes by the names Hammer Orchid and the King-in-His-Carriage Orchid.

It is an insanely expensive flower and is tiny-sized – one cannot even spot it easily! This flower is also a famous decor item.

18. Hooker’s Lips 

Psychotria Elata is a very interesting flower that is known by many different names such as Hooker’s Lips, Hot Lips, and Flower Lips.

This is a rare flower available only in Columbia, Costa Rica, and Panama. It is one of the endangered species of flowers, which is why it is illegal to pick it.

19. Lithops Weberi

An extremely unique kind of flower, Lithops Comptonii are flowering stones. Yes, you read that right! These are known as living stones.

Apart from being so unique, there are also low maintenance and make a great decoration accessory. As they store water, they are part of the succulent family of plants. They make an extremely beautiful sight that will stay in your memory forever.

20. Lobster Claw 

Heliconia Rostrata is a very unique and colorful flower. The False Bird of Paradise and Wild Plantain are common names given to the Lobster Claw.

It is a small-sized plant that can be grown easily anywhere. You don’t even need to care for it too much. You just have to make sure that it gets a lot of water and all the nutrients it needs to grow. When this flower blooms, it is an unforgettable sight!

21. Monkey Face Orchid

Dracula Simia is an unusual plant with exceptional features. It has a monkey face- you can easily identify the dark eyes, eyebrows, a tiny little nose as well as a bearded area.

It is a rare flower that is not easily accessible as it grows in the cloud forests of Peru and Southeastern Ecuador. These flowers belong to the blooming family; thus, they bloom all year, enlightening their surroundings!

22. Tiger Face in Moon Orchid

Phalaenopsis Amabilis is a beautiful moon orchid. Commonly found in Indonesia, this plant is known to be a symbol of charm.

This orchid has a face similar to a tiger’s, along with stripes. That is where its name has been derived. This makes the flower so unique and different!

23. Moth Orchid

Phalaenopsis Amabilis belongs to the family of orchids. It is a famous flower that belongs to a well-known family of flowers. It is easily available in Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and North Australia.

This flower is available in a lot of colors as well. It is a blooming flower that blooms plenty of times each year. You can grow this flower at your convenience anywhere.

24. Naked Man Orchid

Orchis Italica is a strange looking flower. People often find it to be an alien look-alike, which is what qualifies it in our weird flowers list! This flower is a Mediterranean native and appears as a collection of tiny hanging men.

The Naked Man Orchid is a popular flower and is a useful one as well. It is a famous ingredient used in the making of medicines and drinks. Since the Naked Man Orchid is widely used, it is starting to disappear.

25. Parrot Flower

Impatiens Psittacina is one of the most precious-looking flowers. It originated from Thailand, where there are no strict rules in place to protect this endangered species of flowers.

There is a debate about whether or not these actually exist. As only a few people may have actually seen these, we have our doubts.

26. Passion Flower

Passiflora Incarnata is a rare, beautiful flower with a lot of distinct features. It releases a very pleasant fragrance which makes it a natural ingredient in the manufacturing of perfumes.

This plant makes fruits that can be eaten on their own. Moreover, it can also be used for cooking purposes.  It is exclusively from India and Japan.

27. Protea Pinwheel

Leucospermum Catherinae is a flower that resembles a pinwheel. It is a uniquely weird flower.

It is believed that the Protea Pinwheel has a connection with fire. This is a brave flower that can withstand harsh climate regions as well.

28. Pleurothallis Truncata

Another one belonging to the Orchid family, this flower is very uncommon.

This flower prefers a cool climate to grow in, hence, it cannot bear hot and harsh climatic regions.

29. Silver Vase

Aechmea Fasciata is famous for its quality and strength, as well as for its beauty. It is the easiest flower you can grow since it does not require a lot of effort and hard work.

Even though they are native to Brazil, these strange looking flowers are widely available everywhere.

30. Snake Gourd Flower

Trischosanthes Cucumerina is more of a vegetable than an actual flower. It originates from India, but it easily available everywhere in the world.

This useful flower is used to make medicines. Moreover, it is widely used for cooking purposes.

31. Snap Dragon Seed Pod

Antirrhinum Majus is a creepy plant that has skulls all over it! Besides that, it is known to be one of the most heavenly fragranced flowers in the world.

It also has a religious history attached to it. Legend has it that these flowers have magical powers to repel supernatural things.

32. Spider Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum Morifolium is also one of the unusual flowers due to its structure and rare shape.

Belonging to the mum family, these flowers are a great decoration accessory widely used in the world. They thrive when they grow in a planter or pot.

33. Star Flower

Stapelia Grandiflora is also commonly known by the names Star flower and Starfish Flower. It is an exceptionally beautiful plant with huge flowers.

A negative point about these strange looking flowers is that they have a very unpleasant odor to them, which is why one cannot keep them indoors.

34. Subterranean Plant

Hydnora Africana makes the weird flowers list because it looks less of a flower due to its creepy appearance. This plant is native to South Africa and has a disgustingly strong smell.

This plant produces berries that are beneficial for health as well as are extremely delicious!

35. Swaddled Babies

Anguola Uniflora is a gorgeous white tulip orchid. Being a Colombian native, this is the cutest flower in the world.

Also, this flower has a very sweet scent that is refreshing and acts as a great natural scent!

36. Tropical Pitcher Plant

Nepenthes, also goes by the name of Tropical Pitcher Plant and Monkey Cup, is a wild flower. This plant is widely available in many regions of the world like Australia, Madagascar, and the jungles of Indonesia.

You should have these in your house as they are a great way to get rid of insects!

37. Virgin Mary in Moon Orchid

This orchid is one of the wonderfully weird flowers in the world. Due to their cuteness and size, these are so attractive.

As these are small-sized, you can grow them anywhere easily. Also, these make a great decoration accessory for your house if you’re looking to brighten up the place.

38. Voodoo Lily

Dracunculus Vulgaris is a plant found in Europe and the Balkans. This flower is strange looking and gives a hint of evilness. Hence, it is known as the voodoo lily.

Despite being a tropical plant, the Voodoo Lily can tolerate any weather and can grow anywhere. However, it is not recommended to grow this flower due to the disgusting odor it releases. Because of that, the Voodoo Lily makes the weird flowers list.

39. Welwitschia

Welwitschia Mirabilis is an exceptionally beautiful flower. It is a historic flower as it is believed that it has existed since the Jurassic era and has the power to live for centuries.

These weird flowers are found only in Namibia. Namibia is one place where the climate is so humid and dry, but this plant can survive there tells us how strong this is!

40. White Egret Orchid

Naked Man Orchid

Pecteilis Radiata also belongs to the family of orchids, like most of the others mentioned in this article. This flower is unique and beautiful.

The White Egret Orchid originates from Asia and is available in the United States as well. A downside of this plant is that it requires a lot of care; hence, it is a high maintenance plant.

To wrap up, the above-mentioned weird flowers genuinely exist in the world. Each of the flowers is exceptional, either in its shape or characteristics. Many people have not seen these in real life and only enjoyed the pictures.
