Salsa: I love making this delicious homemade salsa! The homegrown tomatoes are the base and then you just need to add seasoning. Here’s how to make your own:

14 ounces of home grown canned tomatoes

1/2 cup of chopped cilantro

Small onion chopped

Mined garlic

Chopped jalapeno

1/4 teaspoon cumin

1/2 tsp lime juice

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon sugar

Step One: Put all of the ingredients in a large blender and blend until you have reached the consistency of your choosing. Add the seasoning to the mix and blend it together one last time. Give it a taste and add more seasoning if desired!

Do you have a plethora of tomatoes left over? There are lots of things you can do with home canned tomatoes. Learn what they are here.

Canned Tomato Soup: Nothing warms you up like a cup of hot soup in the winter. Here’s what you’ll need:

3 chopped onions

1 bunch of celery chopped

8 cups of fresh tomatoes, chopped

4 cups water (add more if needed)

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup of salt

1 cup softened butter

1 cup flour

2 cups tomato juice (chilled)

Step One:  Put onions, celery, and tomatoes in a large pot with enough water to cover the tops of the veggies. Boil then reduce to a simmer for 20 minutes. Pour mixture through a strainer, discard solids, return the liquid to the pot and add salt and sugar.
Step Two: Blend butter and flour together until the mixture is creamy and then add the tomato juice. Pour this mixture into the pot with the other liquid and then stir over medium heat.
Step Three: Add the mixture to the mason jars in your desired size and cook them in a pressure cooker to seal the mixture so that your recipients can enjoy it months from now if desired.

Spaghetti Sauce: Include a box of noodles and some other utensils in your gift bag with this tasty sauce for a dinner easy enough for anyone to make. This is one of my favorite home canned tomatoes neighbor Christmas gift ideas!  Here’s what you’ll need:

2 teaspoons dried basil

8 minced garlic cloves

2 teaspoons crushed pepper flakes

2 teaspoons Worstichiser sauce

Step Two: Chop green peppers and onions in a food processor and then transfer to a stockpot. Stir in tomato paste, canola oil, sugar, salt, garlic cloves, oregano, parsley, basil, pepper flakes, worstichiser sauce, and bay leaves. Simmer for 4-5 hours.
