Garden Grow Tips
Contents
1 Planning on planting a shade garden? You definitely need a lush fern or two to add rich color and depth to your space. They don’t need much sun, just make sure it gets some rays in the morning!
2 Grow Zone: Grow the Japanese Painted Fern in zones 4-9.
3 Water and Sun Needs: Plant in an area of partial sun or shade. On average, water your ferns regularly, but avoid soaking the soil. Allow 1-2 days between waterings to allow soil to dry out.
4 Average Size: Expect painted ferns to get to be about1 to 3 feet tall, and 1 to 2 feet wide.
5 Plant Type: Perennial
6 Special Features: Painted ferns are known for being incredibly low maintenance and easy to care for. Due to their low maintenance, they are also great to grow in containers.
7 How to Get Started: Rich soil with added compost provide the best growth conditions for these perennials. Make sure that the soil has plenty of drainage, or you could lose your ferns to root rot. If you choose to add compost, you will not need to fertilize your plants as they grow. They love the morning sun, so make sure you plant them in an area that will provide that.
8 When to Harvest: Do not expect a harvest from this fern.
9 What to Plant It With: Plant Japanese Painted Ferns with Lady’s Mantle, Lungwort, or Ajuga.

I would assume so, but I would visit your local greenhouse and ask them! I live in the United States, so I’m not sure if it is or not!
