1 You should be growing hosta! Known for its versatility both indoors and out, hosta is a shade loving plant that will look seriously amazing in your shade garden. Growing hosta is a terrific flower garden idea!
2 Grow Zone: Grow in zones 3-9.
3 Water and Sun Needs: Full sun, partial sun. Should receive 1 inch of water daily.
4 Average Size: Under 6 inches tall, can get up to 8 feet wide.
5 Plant Type: Perennial
6 Special Features: Hosta is FANTASTIC for containers because it’s incredibly low-maintenance. Plus, it smells fantastic!
7 How to Get Started: These plants are shade lovers, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t love a little sun! Plant in an area that gets afternoon shade. The darker your leaves are, the more sun it needs. These plants like rich, acidic soil, and you should fertilizer in the summer. Make sure you keep the fertilizer off the leaves of the plant!
8 When to Harvest: Do not expect a harvest from this plant,
