1 Known by a variety of different names, Bergamot is a gorgeous addition to any garden needing a little love from the bees. Gardeners can’t go wrong when planting beautiful, colorful Bergamot. If you’re not growing bergamot, you should be! Keep reading to learn how to start growing bergamot!
2 Grow Zone: Does best in zones 3-9
3 Water and Sun Needs: Full sun
4 Average Size: 1-8 feet tall, 2-4 feet wide.
5 Plant Type: Perennial
6 Special Features: Brings tons of pollinators to your garden. Plant them to bring the bees. This plant is also known for it’s calming aroma, and beauty as a cut flower. Rabbit resistant. Deer resistant.
7 Must Knows: Bergamot, while beautiful is known to become rather aggressive. Make sure you plant your flowers in a thought-out area where it won’t outgrow any other plants. This plant should be planted in an area of full sun, and out of the shade. Plants that are grown in the shade are generally less vibrant and full.
8 When to Harvest: Cut blooms throughout the season as you see fit. These look beautiful in a vase of any size. It should be mentioned that this plant should be cut back regularly throughout the Summer months. Remove any dead leaves or petals to keep growth vibrant.
