Growing up, my kiddos were absolutely obsessed with the HGTV show, Treehouse Builders. They used to dream of having their own treehouse somewhere in our huge backyard! While my kids have all grown up and have started to build their own families, I don’t think that the wish for a backyard treehouse has quite gone away. So this year, it’s my goal to try and build one of these incredible DIY treehouse ideas. It doesn’t matter if my now grown kids won’t be able to enjoy it as often, because I know my grandbabies will! Don’t miss these easy treehouse ideas you can build!

This DIY treehouse is totally epic because it has a swing AND a really rad slide! I think climbing down ladders is way scarier than climbing up them, and this cool treehouse design allows you to skip that step altogether. Though this “treehouse” isn’t necessarily in the trees, the fact that it is on stills gives it that illusion. I think this is one of those treehouse ideas that could definitely work no matter what your environment.

This DIY treehouse plan is easy enough for even the most novice builders to tackle. The openness of this treehouse can light up the imagination of any kid because there are so many different ways to play. Couldn’t you see this being referred to as a “pirate ship” in some outdoor play session?

If you just redid the roofing on your home, put some of those extra supplies to use in the backyard! This teepee shaped treehouse will allow you to use any extra roofing materials but you will need extra beams and 2×4 railings to complete things. Install a rope pulley system (or see if your kids can put one together by themselves) for easy transport of goods and snacks.

This is one of the most elaborate DIY treehouse ideas that I’ve ever seen! You may never get your kids to come down from this if you build it for them. This treehouse is great though because you can use elements found in nature as building materials. How awesome does that log railing look?

Is it just me or does this DIY treehouse idea look like something straight out of Swiss Family Robinson? I simply cannot get over that ladder. Imagine how fun it would be to climb up! While you build the platform, send your kiddos off to find pieces of wood suitable for a ladder like this. Everyone will feel like they participated in building the house, and it’ll create memories that last for years to come! This is definitely a treehouse idea you can build with your family.

If you have a youngster that’s dying for a treehouse of their own but don’t want them scaling a ladder dozens of feet of the ground, opt for a treehouse like this! This easy-to-build open roofed treehouse isn’t more than a few feet off of the ground and you can always see what your kids are up to!
