I adore growing Lemongrass! Lemongrass has a host of uses throughout the home! Use it to help remedy issues with the digestive tract, high blood pressure, fever, exhaustion, and the common cold! It also makes a great spice in teas, sauces, or soups. It’s a great natural remedy, but it’s also really easy to grow indoors and out!
Before you take the plunge and start growing Lemongrass, you need to make sure you have an area of your yard (or home!) that meets the sunlight needs of this plant. Plant it in an area of full sun. The hotter, the better!
When planting, space plants at least 1 foot apart and make sure that they have rich and well-drained soil. Use a high quality potting soil if you decide to grow this indoors!
Never allow the soil to dry out, as this could be devastating to the life of the plant. Check soil daily, and mist the plant with water in especially hot weather.
When growing Lemongrass, the plant should be fertilized once weekly during the summer. Pick a variety of fertilizer that is high in nitrogen.
This plant can be harvested at virtually any point during the growth season. When you decide to harvest, choose stalks that are at least half an inch thick. Cut them at ground-level with a sharp, clean knife!
