Have you been tempted to landscape without grass? Do you know what a xeriscape is? A xeriscape is a garden landscape that features absolutely no kind of grass. If you are trying to save water, or simply landscape with style, here’s how to design your landscape without grass. Which one of these landscape ideas do you like the most?
As you can see, there is some grass hanging around in the background, but the grass isn’t the focal point of this yard! Instead, it’s the patio. Make entertainment a part of your yard with a huge patio lined with colorful flowers and pumpkins.
Quaint pathways are an important aspect in any yard. Instead of landscaping with a skinny pathway, make things huge! Instead, design a pathway that takes up a majority of your yard space. There’s no way anyone could get lost, now! Bring even more greenery into your yard space with oversized pots filled with statement making plants and greenery.
Remember when I said to make your yard a place fit for entertainment? I definitely meant it! In this beautiful backyard, oversized couches make a big statement. Who needs grass when you have a place to hang out that looks like this?
Water features are everything in grass-less yards. This uniquely shaped water feature looks like it could be a pond, but it’s actually a small swimming pool! Guests can hang out under umbrellas when they need a break from the sun. Do you see the pathway featured in the lower corner of the picture?
Just because you don’t have grass doesn’t mean that you can’t go crazy with the greenery! Replace your turf with a gravel sitting area. Complete with a cozy bench, and tons of shade, I think I could waste away an entire afternoon reading on this garden bench! If this doesn’t look comfortable to you, replace the bench with an outdoor sofa of sorts!
Gravel landscaping makes another huge statement in this outdoor environment. Use large stones as “stepping stones” so your guests don’t get gravel in their shoes. If you have the space for it, install raised garden beds around your gravel pit. Just because you don’t have grass doesn’t mean you can’t go green with one of these adorable landscaping ideas.
This wouldn’t be a DIY article if I didn’t feature a pallet project idea. Here, a pallet is utilized to create an easy walkway from one area of your yard to another. I’ve even seen bloggers create an entire deck with the help of a few leftover pallets. I’ll definitely be building one of these babies!
