Container gardens aren’t just for spring! Fall container gardens are all the rage this season. Their gorgeous colors and textures will prove that this is a decor item that you cannot live without. Just because it’s November doesn’t mean it’s too late to start a few Fall container gardens, the colors are still just as vibrant now! Take a peek at a few of my fall container gardens, they’re so pretty that you may even be tempted to leave them up for a few days past Thanksgiving. 😉
The best idea for a Fall container garden? Adding a few squash and pumpkins to the mix, of course! This gardener kept things totally appropriate for Fall by mixing bright pink Mums with a pumpkin and squash. Check out the cabbage, too! Not only is that tasty to eat, but it adds color to your Fall container garden AND cabbage can handle a hard freeze when they happen!
Orange, red, and yellow hues are all you need to make any container garden perfect for Fall. These stunning flower boxes belong to my neighbor, and I enjoy watching the colors of the leaves change throughout the seasons. For a similar look, try growing Oak Leaf Hydrangea, ‘Morning Light’ Miscanthus, and Goldenrod.
Just because the Summer foliage has died off, doesn’t mean you need to remove it from your Fall container gardens. Here, the dead foliage adds just as much interest to the garden as the bright yellow flowers do. Yellow Pansies (similar to the flowers pictured) are great for Fall color and look beautiful when paired with edible seasonal lettuce or Kale. Leafy greens are incredibly cold hardy and I love having access to the veggies throughout the chillier months! Fresh vegetables are underrated!
I Black Eyed Susans are a favorite of mine, but not so much my husband’s! We argue whether or not to plant Black Eyed Susans every year! This year, the compromise was that I plant my Black Eyed Susans in containers instead of the flower beds. And what can I say? I think they look better in my Fall container garden! Paired with Marigolds and a few “Plum Delight” plants these Fall container gardens will add some much-needed brightness when the days get shorter!
Finishing things off with a container garden full of one of my favorite things: Miscanthus Grass and some Scarlet Pimpernel. The pairings look amazing through the summer months, and especially wonderful in the Fall! Find other beautiful flowers perfect for Fall container gardens here!
I have one last Fall container garden idea to share with you all, and I chose this beautiful arrangement because it shows a great combination of beautiful and functional Fall plants! This gardener planted stunning red pansies with two kinds of ornamental Kale.
