Now that the Fall weather has hit my area with full force, I’m coming to terms with the fact that I probably won’t get to spend tons of time in my garden until spring. Fortunately, there are a few great DIY ideas that allow me to use items harvested from the yard in unique and innovative ways. My favorite idea is the DIY bath salts made with dried peony leaves from my garden. Not only are these fun to make, but they are sure to perk you up nicely in case of bad winter weather.
Here’s What You’ll Need for DIY Bath Salts:
-1 cup Epsom salts
-1/2 cup dried peony petals from your garden
– 1/4 cup fine Himalayan salt
-1/4 cup coarse Himalayan salt
-Small glass jars to package your salts
** You can find all of these ingredients at your local grocery store. You can even dry your own petals out of store-bought peonies.
Step One
Start by grinding your dried peony petals in a herb grinder. You can even do so with your hands if you do not have a grinder. Once they have been ground up, combine the petals with both kinds of Himalayan salts and mix well.
Step Two
After the petals have been mixed thoroughly with the Himalayan salts, mix in the Epsom salts. Stir well until completely combined. After you have mixed in all of the salts, package them in small mason jars or something similar for storage. You could even tie some ribbon around the top and give jars of these to your neighbors as a Christmas gift.
How To Use Your DIY Bath Salts
Now that you’ve made your own bath salts, most of the fun comes when you get to put them to use! Use half a cup of the mixture in a regular-sized bath and allow it to sit and dissolve for a few minutes before you get in. Drain the bathtub when you have finished in the tub, and make sure to rinse the tub out to remove any residue.
Now that you know how to make these DIY bath salts, you can always indulge in a relaxing bath.
