I’m lucky enough to have a cut flower garden on the side of my house. It’s definitely my favorite area of my yard, and I love to experiment with different varieties as the seasons change. It’s getting cooler up here in Utah, and fall will be here before I know it. If you have a flower garden that you seriously love, consider planting these lush flowers for pretty colors this fall.
Pansies come in a variety of different colors, but the deep shade of this variety makes them perfect for fall. Did you know that Pansies are surprisingly tolerant of hard frosts? There’s nothing “pansy” about these!
Here, several different kinds of flowers work together to create a colorful backdrop that your guests won’t soon forget! Yellow Daisies, Poppies, and English Primrose are all featured prominently in this garden design!
Marigolds are known for their deep orange, yellow, and sometimes red colorings. Marigolds bloom all Summer long, and they are tolerant of early-fall frosts. Make sure to take a picture when yours are in bloom!
Brighten up the dark and dreary corners of your yard (and porch!) with a cluster of Cineraria. It can even grow to be 2 feet high!
This isn’t a flower, but Ornamental Kale definitely gives off the illusion that it’s one! Kale can even be grown throughout the winter months. There isn’t anything quite like a continuously productive vegetable garden.
Nimesia is actually capable of blooming during the winter months. I definitely need color like this in my garden! Plant Nimesia seeds in the late fall for winter blooms! Yes, please!
Erica, or heath, is a great plant to fill those unsightly areas between rocks or other landscape features. The plant can grow to be 6 feet high, and is known to “sprawl out.” Water carefully, it doesn’t like excess water or absolutely dry soil.
