I am a huge fan of growing my own fruits and vegetables whenever it is possible. I have a flourishing garden in my backyard, but lately, I’ve been focusing more on my windowsill herb garden. I’ve been growing these 10 herbs for the last few months, and I think that EVERYONE needs these in their kitchen! It’s awesome to have access to fresh herbs at all times.
Rosemary is one of the easiest herbs to grow, and it does well both indoors and out! My rosemary plant is extremely resilient and it flavors everything in a seriously delicious way. Place it in a window of full sun!
Sage is one of my absolute favorite herbs–because it tastes great on a turkey, with butter, and in just about everything else. Don’t worry about fertilizing your sage plant, because it won’t ever need it and keep it in an area of full sun. Make sure the soil is draining properly!
Thyme is a herb with a ton of medicinal properties, and one powerful odor. Keep it in a window that gets full sun, and you will never have to fertilize this plant either. Thyme does well when it’s left alone.
I’ve had a basil plant sitting on my windowsill for as long as I can remember! Basil can grow big and bulky, so always make sure that they have an adequate amount of grow space. Use basil to flavor your spaghetti dishes!
Chives are known for their bold flavor that is similar to a green onion. Chives are a perennial that can grow in almost any environment. The plant will die off in the winter, but you can expect more green shoots during Spring.

Mint is EXTREMELY invasive, so if you decide to grow it make sure that it has enough room to spread out and grow. Mint is another herb that you can propagate, so you will never have to buy it again. Use this guide to propagate them yourself!
