If there’s one thing that I know well, it’s how AMAZING a flowering pot looks on a back patio or front porch. It adds color, texture, and well, it’s just something that’s so great to sit and enjoy! Does your back patio need a little mid-summer revamping? All you need is a flowering pot full of stunning flowers. Updating your backyard (or curb) appeal doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming at all; you just need a few flowering pots perfect for your unique and personal space!
The greenery spread around this back patio is one of the reasons why it is a favorite outdoor space of mine. The picture isn’t great, so I was unable to determine what exactly was planted in these, but it looks like a dumb cane on the right in the orange and a creeping fig just behind it. Both of these do best in a low sun environment.
Straight from Tuscany? Nope, just my neighbor’s backyard! Her vines, a pergola, and gigantic terra cotta pots make me feel like I’ve stepped straight into a Frances Mayes book. Fill your patio terra cotta pots with your favorite herbs, available at your convenience whenever you need to use them!
Speaking of kitchen herbs, keep things separate and easy to identify in a varied set of terra cotta planters. I love the idea of letting your kids help with the project too; their added artwork makes it even better! Grow your own lavender, chives, basil…whatever you can get your hands on! You’ll love the convenience of a patio herb garden; I know I did!
This front (or back) porch setup just simply screams summer. A variety of pots, in a variety of colors, stuffed with petunias, lavender and beautiful cut flowers give this porch character. You can find the big blue glazed pots on Amazon (click link).
In your backyard, flowering pots can steal the show no matter where they’re put in your yard! I’ve used them to hide an unpleasant section of my foundation after a flood–it left a harsh water stain on my stucco that I just couldn’t remove. Until we could get our power washer back, I used four or five large terra cotta pots to hide the ugly stain!
These aren’t exactly pots, but I loved the ingenuity here so I had to share. Use pieces of wood from your scrap pile and cut them into an even length for adorable porch planters. These don’t take up much space at all and you can stain them if you’d like something a little darker.
I think these are some kind of chrysanthemum planted below, but I could be mistaken!
For a shabby chic look, bring your flower pots and galvanized bins from inside and use them on your porch! The pairing creates something rather eclectic, but adorable nevertheless! Although, with these types of containers, it’s best to only put cut flowers inside them …they tend to cause flowers to become waterlogged due to a lack of drainage.
