I love growing potted plants indoors! Growing your favorite fruits, vegetables, and flowers indoors often presents an entirely different set of problems and issues. But did you know that the way you pot your indoor plants says a whole lot about it’s overall growth and success! Do you know the correct way to pot your indoor plants? If not, try my method when working with potted plants indoors.
Make Sure You Have These Items Before Beginning:
-An interior plant of your choosing,
– A ceramic pot.
– Plastic Liner
-Pea Gravel
-Potting Soil
-Small Felt Pads (Optional)
Start by gluing your felt pads to the bottom of your ceramic pot. This step is completely optional, but adding the pads is a terrific way to protect your floor from any potential pot scratches. Plug the hole in the bottom of the pot. Next, line your pot with a plastic liner. You wouldn’t want to come home to a leaky plant that has ruined the finish on your wood flooring!
Add a couple of inches of pea gravel to the bottom of your pot. The gravel will keep the plant from becoming overwatered. Overwatering is the #1 cause of root rot, and root rot can kill plants! Cover the pea gravel with soil, and pot your plant in your now- lined pot. Fill the remained of the pot with potting soil. Depending on the type of plant you choose, your plant might do better potted in a cactus potting soil. Ask an employee at your local nursery for assistance!

Amazon carries them and most nurseries and home improvement stores with garden centers will have them as well. 🙂
