Pathways can break up boring backyards and make them look classy and fancy. However, getting a path professionally installed can be expensive and incredibly inconvenient. Instead of spending lots of money and getting stressed out for a new pathway, try some of these awesome DIY landscape pathways to die for!
Stone & Gravel
A classy and attractive pathway is the stone and gravel one. It looks great in any yard and you can make it as thin or thick as you want it to be. Choose contrasting or complementary colors that really make each other look good!
Wood
A simple but efficient wooden walkway is great in the garden or the yard. Depending on the space you have, you can make the pieces of wood as long or short as necessary. You can also change the spacing between the pieces of wood, too.
Paver Stones
Paver stones are perfect for walkways, since that’s why they were made! You can put them tightly right next to one another, or space them out to create a fun and unique design! Choose the type of stone you want and the overall look of the pattern before you just start throwing them down, however!
Flagstone
Flagstone is a classic pathway material that looks great no matter where you live. You can make a straight path or have some fun and put a little wind in it!
Stone & Mulch
This may not sound like a very good pathway, but it can look incredibly classy and clean. Use the stone as the stepping stones and then surround them with a mulch that looks great!
Stone Lined
If you want stones in your pathway but they’re just too expensive to use in the whole thing, then try just lining the path with them! This will limit the expenses on materials and also keep the path from looking disheveled or getting disorganized.
Boardwalk
I love this idea! It adds such a fun and relaxed vibe to the backyard! Choose or paint the boardwalk a fun color you love and then add matching plants and decorations!
Wooden Logs
If you’re really into the outdoors and want a nice rustic feel, then try this creative pathway idea! Shave the wooden logs down to thin pieces, and then use them as the stepping blocks!
Pallet
Use all those old garden pallets you have and repurpose them to make a beautiful pallet walkway! You can get creative with the spacing and size; just make it look good!
Stone & Moss
A stone and moss pathway is incredibly classy and will remind you and all your guests of a rustic English cottage! You don’t just have to use stone in between the clumps of moss, so choose a material (or materials) that you like and go well together.
Recycled Timber
Do some massive upcycling with timber and pebbles. With a little bit of hard work and creativity, you can make this awesome path in no time and little money.
Brick
You can never go wrong with the classic brick walkway. Choose the width of the path that you want, making sure it isn’t too big for the yard or too small to actually use.
Stepping Stones
If you want to keep the grass and other natural aspects of your yard but want a pathway, then consider a stepping stone path! This allows you to keep the yard as it is, but then you just have to get rid of small sections in order to install the stones. Not a big deal at all but it sure does look good!
Tiered
Just because you have a hill or uneven yard doesn’t mean you can’t have a pathway. With some careful measuring, you can make an awesome tiered pathway (out of almost any material) without having to spend thousands of dollars on a complete yard renovation.
Decorative
If these ideas are just too normal for you, then have some fun and make your pathway a decorative piece of art! You can add swirls, colorful stones, flowers, or whatever other design you want!
