The New Year will be here before we know it, is it already almost November? This year has FLOWN by at a record pace, and I’m already eager to start gardening this Spring. Now that the grow season is (almost…) over, I’m sure there are some things you wish went a little differently. Did you get too many squash, and not enough tomatoes? We’ve all been there! As with any learning process, it’s important to sit down and think about how you can get better! What are your gardening resolutions for the New Year? Here are a few of mine!
#1. Instead of complaining (and playing the “catch up) game with garden pests, I will take active measures to deter, and get rid of anything harming my garden and it’s harvest.
#2. This last year, I SWORE that I would install a water fountain, waterfall, or SOME kind of water feature in my backyard. I never got around to it…but not in 2018! I SWEAR to take the time to build a feature my family would love. And guess what? I have plenty of DIY water feature articles!
#3. My husband and I DREADED moving the lawn. In fact, we dreaded it all throughout the Summer. Instead of complaining, this year, I’m going to brain-storm up a “yard-less” landscape that will WOW my neighbors. Learn how to plan your Xeriscape here!
#4. I was a little bummed this fall when I discovered that I didn’t have as much color in my garden this Fall. I would have liked a ton more! But who wouldn’t? In 2018, I’m going to plan ahead for Fall color, and that means taking mid-summer planting seriously!
#5. This year, I promise not to forget my trees! While I didn’t have an issue with any broken (or falling branches) one of my good friends did. A broken branch caused her family thousands in damages! I will periodically check, and remove any hazardous branches on my trees.
#6. I’ll finally upgrade my patio! I’ve loved my patio furniture for years, but I fell a little out of love with it this Summer. I guess the years of wear and tear have FINALLY taken it’s toll on my beloved patio. However, next year, it’ll be a completely different story. I’m thinking MAJOR overhaul. Fortunately, I have lots of inspiration resources!
