I’ve been using Hydrogen Peroxide in the garden and through my home for the last few years. It’s an all natrual cleaner, and one that is safe for both pets and humans! Hydrogen peroxide is super helpful (and versatile!) because of it’s extra oxygen atom. Use it to release oxygen (and to supplement your plants!) in your soil. Here’s how to use hydrogen peroxide in the garden.
1. Goodbye, Root Rot
Root rot is one of the most common killers of garden plants. This disease can kill your plant in as little as 24 hours, so it’s important to take preventative measures. Save your plants by adding 3% of hydrogen peroxide to 1 quart of water. The hydrogen peroxide will provide water logged roots with oxygen to survive.
2. Tackle Mold And Mildew
Who would have thought that peroxide actually KILLS mold and mildew spores? Combine 10 tablespoons of 3% peroxide with a liter of water. Pour directly on plants that are being effected by mold and mildew.
3. Use It As A Fertilizer
Strengthen your plant’s roots by using 1 teaspoon of peroxide with a gallon of water. The extra oxygen atom helps your plant’s roots absorb nutrients better.
4. Hydrogen Peroxide Is a Great Pesticide
Spray infected and diseased plants with 3% hydrogen. Make sure you use equal parts water and peroxide, as this is the recipe that kills insect eggs.
5. Hydrogen Peroxide Equals Faster Seed Germination
Soak your seeds in 3% hydrogen for about thirty minutes. The peroxide works to break down the protective coating of the seeds, and helps to kill any disease that may be lurking within the seed itself. You might even see seed sprouts in just a couple of days!
