It’s always a little embarrassing when spring and summer come along, but your lawn still looks like it’s the middle of winter. Dead and brown grass is definitely an eyesore, especially when you have weather that should be producing thick, green grass. Here are a few steps to help improve your lawn and make it look awesome this year!
If possible, you want to level the lawn as much as possible. If you have a large hill or bumpy spots in the grass, it’s going to be hard for the water and nutrients to spread evenly. When you have hills, water tends to pool at the bottom of the hill, causing all sorts of damage and malnourishment for your lawn. So, if it’s a simple fix, consider leveling out your lawn before you start trying to get perfectly green grass.
Next, make sure you lay the seed! You can’t grow grass without the seed, right? Depending on where you live, your budget, and what kind of maintenance you’re going for, these will all influence what kind of seed you get. Do some research beforehand so you don’t regret the kind of grass you get, and make sure to take care of it from the very beginning.
Generally, no matter what kind of seed you bought, when it’s first planted, you need to water it twice a day. This should go on for the first few weeks that it’s planted. The water is going to give the seed energy and health so it can spread its roots and get a healthy start. Stay on top of the grass, making sure you notice any issues that may pop up. These steps aren’t flawless, but they should generally get you a great patch of green lawn!
